  • This layer contains the wetlands of the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. The dataset is structured according to the INSPIRE Annex I Theme - Hydrography. The data is derived from the "AGE" - datasets.

  • A medium combustion plant is any technical device with a rated thermal input of 1 MW or more and less than 50 MW in which combustible products are oxidised in order to use the heat thus produced, such as combustion plants, engines and gas turbines. All medium combustion installations must be registered with the Environmental Administration, which keeps a public register with information on each installation. The operating conditions and the obligations of the operators of these installations are laid down in the Grand-Ducal Regulation of 24 April 2018 on the limitation of emissions from medium combustion installations.

  • In the detailed programme of measures, the types of measures related to hydromorphology (HY) and urban wastewater management (SWW) which are defined in the catalogue of measures of the second river basin management plan, were assigned to the individual water bodies. The objective of this assignation is to identify for each water body those measures that will help to reduce the pressures and deficits present in the water body, thereby improving its status or maintaining its good status. The hydromorphological measures include the improvement of the ecological continuity, the renaturation of water courses as well as the regulation of the minimal flow. Some hydromorphological types of measures can have a positive effect on the reduction of floods.

  • The WFD's quantitative status objectives aim to ensure a balance between groundwater withdrawal and recharge.

  • The concept of aquatic habitat connectivity is based on the migration of aquatic species from habitats presenting favorable local conditions to habitats presenting less favorable habitats. Based on the structural quality mapping carried out in 2013-2014 and the planning conditions and restrictions, the watercourse network of the luxemburgish surface water bodies was divided into six categories of functional elements.

  • The surface water typology was determined on the basis of geographical , geological, morphological and hydrological characteristics. The Luxembourgish surface water typology comprises six types. For all six types the reference conditions, which would be achieved if there were no anthropogenic pressures impacting surface waters, are described in fact sheets. The reference conditions correspond to the high status of surface water bodies.

  • The chemical status of the surface water bodies is assessed as being good or failing to achieve good chemical status. The assessment of the chemical status for the second river basin management plan is based on the list of substances of directive 2008/105/EC and the environmental quality standards established by the new directive 2013/39/EC. The assessment without the ubiquist substances permita to get a differentiated picture of the actual situation.
